 TRASH PICK UP

Village of Carleton

Good afternoon.

Based on our conversation regarding the current pandemic that is affecting the nation, I wanted to confirm the following items that we discussed and that Republic Services will enact.  They are as follows:

  1. Bulk/Large Item Collection Service
    1. Republic will suspend the collection of bulk/large items in the Village.
    2. Republic is asking residents with these items to hold off on placing these items out for collection until Republic resumes the collection of these items
  2. Bag It Before You Trash It
  1.
    1. Republic is asking residents to please bag their trash prior to placing their trash into their trash can or cart.  This will prevent loose debris from blowing out of the truck during collection.  In addition, this will reduce exposure to items of potential concern.
  2. Trash weights and volumes
  1.
    1. With everyone staying home, we are seeing an increase in the volume of materials placed out for collection
    2. Republic will continue to provide collection service although collection may run a little slower than normal as a result of the increased volumes and weights

Our main goal at this point is the safety of everyone including your residents and our employees.  While we all play a critical role in ensuring that service is delivered, we also play an equally important role in reducing practicing social distancing as well as exposure to COVID-19.

That said, these asks are not easy ones but they are essential in order to preserve and maintain our essential services to the community.

Per your request, I have also included the following prepared information for distribution (if you should choose to use it):

Republic will not service any trash outside of the cart as we are trying to limit our exposure to our drivers during this time.  In order to best protect and limit the exposure to our employees, the bulk / large item will be suspended until further notice.  Republic is asking that residents practice Bag It Before You Trash It.  Please make sure that trash is properly bagged prior to placing it in your cart for collection.

Republic Services’ appreciates your support and understanding as we know everyone is working hard to prevent exposure during this pandemic.

Our number one priority is the safety of our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.

I would ask that you provide a confirmation on the above items as soon as possible.

As always, please feel free to contact me if you need anything else or have any questions.  I appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Thank you,

 Village of Carleton Sewer Customers

At all times but especically during this time of the COVID-19 virus we ask that you
refrain from flushing baby wipes, disposable diapers, flushable wipes,
hand sanitizer wipes, or disinfectant wipes.
While these are flushable, they do not degrade like toilet paper does.  They will end up plugging up our system or overloading the pumps.

PLEASE DO NOT FLUSH ANY OF THE ABOVE ITEMS INTO THE SEWER IT COST US ALL
IN THE LONG RUN.  PLEASE DISPOSE OF THESE ITEMS IN YOUR TRASH.

Thank You
